Types of Plagiarism
- direct or indirect use of key parts of another article without citing the source
- presenting an entire text by another author as your own work
- presenting the results of another research as your own work
The authors are requested to ensure that they have written entirely original works and they are advised to check their manuscript for similarity using plagiarism detection software programs prior to the submission. Authors also need to bear in mind that it is considered highly unethical to submit the same paper to more than one journal at the same time.
If the plagiarism is found by editorial board or referees, the manuscript will be rejected immediately and editorial board will communicate to authors for an explanation. If authors do not respond within a reasonable length of time, they will not be able to submit manuscripts to the Verdict: Journal of Law Science anymore.
The plagiarism is seriously investigated by editorial board. The corresponding author and the PIC in the research governance of the author’s institution will be contacted for responsibility. Besides that, the author is blacklisted and debarred for submitting new papers to Verdict: Journal of Law Science.
Use of AI-Based Tool Policy
The use of various Artificial Intelligence-based software, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Bing AI, Claude, and others, for writing and developing research ideas is at the discretion of the author. However, we must emphasize that authors must ensure the originality of their research ideas comes from themselves. AI is merely a tool to assist researchers or authors in finding references and information for their research topics. It should not be used to create research that appears to originate from the thoughts of the researcher/author. In this case, the author must take full responsibility. Therefore, to detect plagiarism in each manuscript, Verdict: Journal of Law Science uses Turnitin Software to obtain the similarity results of the manuscript. If the similarity level exceeds 15%, it will be returned to the author for revision. Once again, any form of research misconduct is not tolerated.
