Authors Guidelines

Statement

The authors who wish to publish a research paper in Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature must adhere to the following provisions.

  1. The manuscript must be written in academic English.
  2. The manuscript must be the author’s original work, free from plagiarism, and not previously published or under consideration by any other journal.
  3. The manuscript must not contain abusive, defamatory, libelous, obscene, fraudulent, or illegal content.
  4. The manuscript must be written following the author guidelines and template of Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature.

By submitting an article to this journal, you agree to all necessary originality checks on your paper. Each article will undergo a peer-review process before proceeding to the production stage. Therefore, authors must agree to wait for this process.

Manuscript Preparation

  1. The manuscript uses consistent English language (American or British spelling). English spelling should not be mixed or used interchangeably. Authors only use or choose one of the English spelling.
  2. The manuscript is written in a single column in A4 paper format. Margins size: 3 cm (left, right, top, and bottom). The article format (layout) will be finalized before publication.
  3. The article consists of 4500 to 8000 words including tables, references, captions, and appendix. Manuscripts exceeding the limit will be critically reviewed regarding their length.
  4. The manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: Title, Author’s name, Affiliation, Abstract, Keywords, Main text (Introduction, Literature review, Method, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion), Conflict of interest statement, Authors’ contributions and responsibilities, Acknowledgements, References, Appendices (if any).
  5. The manuscript should be in Word.docx file format
  6. The entire manuscript uses “Times New Roman” with font size 12.
  7. The title is written in centered and bold. The first letter of each word is capitalized, except for conjunctions. The title consists of a maximum of 14 words.
  8. The authors’ names and email addresses. The author’s name is written in full without any academic titles. If author’s name is only one word, first name shall be duplicated as last name, e.g. Maria Maria. The corresponding author is marked with an asterisk (*). Then, provide the authors’ email addresses (mandatory). Note: The maximum number of authors is five.
  9. The author’s affiliation/institution (name of institution/university, city address, postal code, and country name) must be written in full address (mandatory).
  10. The abstract. The abstract must contain the background, research objectives, research methods, results or findings, and conclusions. This abstract consists of 250 words.
  11. The keywords. Keywords are written alphabetically consisting of 3-5 words. Keywords must represent the content of the research article or be general in the subject discipline.
  12. The introduction. The introduction contains the background of the research. The introduction should succinctly situate the study within a wider context, emphasizing its importance. It must clarify the objectives and significance of the research. A thorough review of the current state of the field is necessary, citing essential publications. Highlight any controversial or differing hypotheses when relevant. Conclude by briefly stating the main aim of the study and its key findings. Ensure that the introduction is comprehensible to a broad reader, including scientists from other fields, as science is universally applicable. Citing essential publications style as the following:
  • Marie (2020) states applied linguistic is……
  • Linguistics is a discipline to study a language (Benjamin et al., 2022).
  • Newmark and Saldana (2024, p. 22) point out that translation is….
  • Qualitative research is one of the research approaches (Huberman & John, 2021).
  • Translation is a process to transfer the meaning from source language to target language (Mike, 2023; Sarah & Saldana, 2019; Newmark et al., 2022).
  1. Literature Review. The literature review contains concept and theory or theoretical framework or previous research that have relevance with you research, show research gaps and research novelty.
  2. The method. The research method consists of stages that are used in a research process, types of research approaches, methods, types and sources of data, data analysis techniques. The method contains an explanation of the research approach, subjects of the study, the conduct of the research procedure, the use of materials and instruments, data collection, analysis techniques, and presentation of data analysis.
  3. The Results and Discussion. In the results section contain the results of the analysis and research findings. In the discussion section, interpretations of research results are provided to give meaning to the reader or provide guidance for further research.
  4. The conclusion. The conclusion contains a summary of the research findings. Then, followed by the main points of the discussion. A general conclusion ends with a statement about how the research work contributes to the field of study as a whole. Then, it contains also the limitations of the research and suggestions for future research.
  5. The conflict of interest statement. The author(s) shall declare the conflict of interest related to their research. The conflict of interest will occur when the author actions may be influenced from organization or personal relationship such as financial gain, personal interest or any successful outcomes. Provide a conflict of interest statement. If there is no conflict of Interest, state that “The author(s) declare(s) that there is no conflict of interest.
  6. The authors’ contributions and responsibilities. The author(s) shall state that, “author made substantial contributions to the conception and design of the study. The authors took responsibility for data analysis, interpretation and discussion of results. The authors read and approved the final manuscript.”
  7. The This section contains a statement of funding sources for the research work. This section also contains gratitude to those who contributed to the research and preparation of the manuscripts.
  8. The references. This section contains all the references cited in the text. All references must be arranged using the reference management system such as Mendeley. Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature uses APA style 7th Edition. It is very expected that 80% of reference sources come from journal articles, proceedings, or research results from the last five years.
  9. Furthermore, the formatting of title layout, abstract, headings/subheadings, pages, figures, tables, and appendix can be referred to in the Template of Austronesian: Journal of Language Science & Literature.
